Adjustable Hospital Bed Glossary
Adjustable Base: The base of an adjustable bed, this is the mechanical part of the bed that allows for the mattress to move positions.
Core: A core can refer to an innerspring mattress, Latex mattress or a True Form mattress. The core of a mattress is the supportive structure of a mattress set.
Covers:
Each of the latex foam mattresses are covered with the ultimate
luxury of soft Jersey Knit fabric. This breathable knit is so soft
that it creates the perfect ambiance for blissful slumber.
Dunlop Process: This process is when the latex
is placed on a continuous line process. The compound is used to
set the cell structure, and then it is heated to 220 degrees to
cure the newly processed latex. Dunlop latex is used for the core
of a latex mattress. This type of latex doesn’t offer much
variation in density. Dunlop latex is high density foam that allows
for proper spinal alignment and better sleep.
Euro
Comfort Core: The Euro comfort core is a rich, convoluted
dual foam that conforms to your body with a firm perimeter, providing
extra support around the edge of the sleep surface. This is a firm
yet comfortably supportive foam that adds to the overall feeling
of the mattress.
Fiberlux:Soft,
high quality fiber for a comfortably plush feel .Giving you the
pampering comfort of a luxurious quilt that allows you to nestle
into relaxation. Fiberlux is made of pre–compressed fibers
to prevent body impressions. It’s just like pre–washed
blue jeans that don’t shrink. This component allows air circulation
through the mattress which helps you maintain normal body temperature
while you sleep.
Indentation Load Deflection: This is most commonly
known as an ILD for short. Most often you will see an ILD rating
with memory foam mattresses or Latex mattresses. The purpose of
an ILD rating is to tell you how hard or soft a material is. Latex: Latex is a material created when rubber
particles are suspended in water by soap. Latex is tapped out of
a tree in the rain forest, giving it an environmentally friendly
appeal that is a renewable resource.
Memory Foam: Also know as visco–elastic polyurethane. It is referred to as memory foam because the foam returns to its original shape once weight is removed from the mattress.
Natural
Latex: Reflexion beds are crafted using 100% latex. Each
core is constructed using the ideal combination of natural and synthetic
latex to ensure the most consistent, durable mattress possible.
Latex’s natural origin and its unique pressure–relieving
qualities set it uniquely apart from other sleep sets.
Patented
Convoluted Marvelux: This convoluted foam offers exclusive,
high quality, contoured, extra firm foam layer that provides a firm
yet comfortable feel. Giving the mattress the feeling of a quality
running shoe, supportive and supple, yet resilient over the long
haul.
PowerLok:
Powerlok is the edge guard found around the outside edge of the
latex core. The powerlok is found on the entire line of the Reflexion
latex mattresses. It is a firm, polyurethane foam that surrounds
the perimeter of the mattress offering a firm seating edge that
will not collapse. The powerlok technology also increases your sleeping
space.
Reflexion: Sealy’s line of latex mattresses. Resilium:
Offers the loft, softness, and breathe ability of cotton, but bounces
back to retain its plumpness, shape, and support far longer. Durable
and soft like cotton, yet also resilient like lycra.
Sculpture
Foam: This type of foam is pin cushion convoluted foam
that improves the body’s ability to conform while also providing
an ultimate feel in plush comfort. The pin cushion foam gives you
the feeling of being lifted with a strong sense of support.
Sealy
Foam: High quality and high density Polyurethane foam that
cushions and conforms to your body for a plusher, more comfortable
feel. StayTrue Foam is made through an innovative process which
produces a more uniform cell structure. And it’s 10% more
durable than regular foam.
Silk/Wool
Fiber: A refined blend of natural, high quality fibers.
Fibers blended to balance the supportive feel of wool with the luxurious
softness of silk. This fiber is pre–compressed to prevent
body impressions, like pre–washed blue jeans that don’t
shrink. Fiber enhances your comfort by allowing air circulation
through the mattress, which helps you maintain normal body temperature
while you sleep. These fibers feel like the durable resilience of
a fine wool sweater with the added luxury of silk–lined cuffs
and collar.
Super
Soft Convoluted Foam: This foam is a deeply, contoured
high density polyurethane foam that offers you a super soft feeling
just like the name implies. It also provides exceptional comfort
and durability by reducing pressure points on your body. This foam
it typically called egg carton foam, because of the shape of the
foam itself, it literally looks like an egg carton. The foam allows
you to nestle in secure comfort throughout the night.
Talalay Process: This is when latex is poured
into a mold; the mold is then vacuum sealed in order to evenly distribute
the latex. The latex is then frozen to -20 degrees to lock the structure.
Then it is heated to 220 degrees to cure the new processed latex
foam. From this point it goes through a washing and drying phase
as well as quality testing. Talalay latex is the top portion of
a latex mattress.
True Form: Sealy’s line of memory foam mattresses.
Upholstery:
Each Reflexion latex foam mattress set is made up of the finest
upholstery materials that are available. They take the greatest
care to be sure each material added to the mattress set matches
the quality standard set by the company. Using material such as
wood, silk and cashmere fiber blends, these luxurious layers are
combined to create a unique comfort level fit for each latex model.
Visco–elastic: Visco–elastic refers
to materials that have a quick rebound or the ability to bounce
back to its original shape. The visco–elasticity of a mattress
adds to its durability.
